Recover your nails after the summer!

10 September 2021

Summer is synonymous with sun, beach, swimming, long walks, parties, fresh clothes, and flip-flops/sandals. And despite bringing many good moments, it also brings with it some risk factors for the health of our skin, hair, and nails! Therefore, it is very important to have specific care, especially at the end of this season.

Nails are one of the most neglected parts of the body throughout the year. Most of the time, we only remember our toenails before we start showing them on sandals or flip-flops. And fingernails are suffering a lot of damage with the constant use of nail polish or aggressive manicures. So, today we dedicate this article to the special care that your nails deserve to receive.

Let the nail "breathe"

It is very important to remove the nail polish weekly, especially after summer. The nails must have time to “breathe”, at least one day a week, without any product applied. For even gentler care, use a nail polish remover that is not very aggressive to the nail.

Moisturize, always!

Good hydration is the simplest treatment we can offer our hands. It is an essential step throughout the year, but it should be even more frequent and relevant at this time of year. Constant contact with salt water, chlorine in swimming pools, and excessive sweating lead to dehydration of the hands and nails. Thus, using a good cream daily will help to achieve beautiful and healthy nails!

Do your best, but protect the nails

Every time you paint your nails, apply a good protective base. This step can include a strenghtener or a ridge vanisher base, depending on the condition of your nails. But what really matters is TO NOT put the colored nail polish directly on the nail.

It's not a myth, it's a must!

Be forewarned!

Especially while your hands are sensitive, it's important to carry a small emergency kit with you. Skin dries more easily, nails break more often, we know! The solution is not to take any chances! There are already complete kits, ready to use, or you can even make your own. Add a hand cream and a nail file, a nail polish remover, and cuticle nippers.

Forewarned is forearmed, isn't it?

Feet and nails

It is important not to wear tight shoes right after a period of sandals and flip-flops. Our foot is no longer used to it, and this is reflected a lot in the ingrown toenails. When washing your feet, take extra care, drying your feet thoroughly, and using a specific foot moisturizer. When choosing socks, prefer the cotton ones.

Extra tips so you don't miss anything

Drink plenty of water to hydrate inside and out, and avoid baths in very hot water. Also, don't forget to finish your nail makeup with a good top coat nail polish. This product allows you to create a protective barrier against the external factors of everyday life, also giving a better appearance to the manicure/pedicure.

Thank you very much and until the next tip!
