Prepare your hairless Summer!

Prepare your hairless Summer!

8 July 2021

With summer knocking at the door, hair removal is once again the topic of the moment. Which options are best suited for each of you? And what influence can the sun have on the whole process?

We can start by identifying the most common areas: the armpits, face, and groin. These are also more sensitive areas. In the case of the face, in addition to being sensitive, it is also subject to greater sun exposure. Fortunately, today there are many options and, as a result, the risks of hair removal and discoloration on days of strong solar radiation end up being much lower. There are permanent hair removal machines that can now be used regardless of sun exposure, which did not happen three or four years ago.

Permanent depilation can be very advantageous, especially for light skin with dark and dense hair, as the contrast is greater, which increases the effectiveness of the process. Despite being called definitive, maintenance is always necessary. The truth is that the initial investment is usually higher than that of traditional hair removal (but gradually are appearing more economical options), but in the long run it pays off. The best tip we can leave for those who opt for permanent hair removal is to moisturize the skin very well before and after the sessions, as the process is still intense. This type of hair removal is also ideal for those who are allergic to wax or have sensitive skin.

Currently, waxing is still the most common, because there are areas that are not conducive to permanent hair removal, such as the upper lip hair or the eyebrows. Anyone who is allergic or sensitive to wax on the face can always opt for tweezers or a facial epilator. But how do I know whether or not I have an allergy to wax? The solution is to test on a small area of the leg or arm and wait two to three days to ensure the skin reacts well. If you don't have allergies, but still don't want to go to the beautician (because at this stage of the pandemic it may be inadvisable), there is a solution! Wax bands are well developed and therefore are thought to be less painful and suitable for sensitive areas.

If, on the other hand, you don't like the waxing method, because it is painful when done on the person or because you lack the talent for the process, there is still another depilatory option, the cream. However, keep in mind that the cream can also cause allergies or mild skin reactions. Despite being designed for sensitive areas, there are always more reactive skins, so always test before!

There are other areas where the hair is not messy, or even aesthetic, such as on the arms and thighs. In this case, you can always choose to lighten the body hair instead of shaving it. It works great in summer because it fits perfectly with tanned skin! A bleacher/lightener doesn't have to be a very aggressive cream, it can be a progressive treatment, which is not only less harmful to our skin but also allows us to decide the level of lightening we want. This process can also be applied to the hair, being possible to obtain natural reflections throughout the hair or just on the ends. Again, perfect for the summer!

As you can see, there are several options and various combinations for all types of skin, body hair, and different seasons. As we are more focused on the summer, I take this opportunity to reinforce the skin's hydration and to advise you to always, but always, put on a good sunscreen, especially on the days after epilation.

That's all for today! Take a look at our suggestions, opportunities, and star products, and don't hesitate to clear any doubts that arise from our Instagram @carelineage !
