COVID-19: Tips for distracted people

COVID-19: Tips for distracted people

29 January 2021

My name is Sara and I am the perfect example of a distracted person.

This is relevant because, from what I have been observing, there are two types of people who are most at risk of becoming infected with Coronavirus (apart from the obvious factors, such as the time of exposure):

  • those who do not want to know, that after a year still have the chip of “this is just a virus” (and, regarding those, I have no intention of commenting, because I do not feel capable of doing it without hurting susceptibilities);
  • those who are distracted and, in that field, I feel more than licensed!

My name is Sara and I am not a healthcare professional.

"So why am I going to follow your advice?"

Well, I am surrounded by healthcare professionals and I think that a small perspective of the common citizen does no harm to anyone. Since this frontline that surrounds me is on top of everything I write, they won't let me fool you, I promise! On the other hand, I am a Master in Mechanical Engineering (according to the paper they gave me), but an artist at heart, which I think will allow me to give you a practical view, with a more accessible language about COVID-19.

I've always been terrified of sharing my opinion on public platforms. In the last quarantine, I created a page of drawings ("Ranting Vibes") as an attempt to express myself, and I was unable to convey even a quarter of what was going on in my head. Because we all have traumas and fears, right? But when it comes to COVID-19, I never stopped studying and giving my opinion, so I feel that if it isn't now, it won't be anytime soon.

So, I leave you with the first tip, which consists of opening your eyes and seeing (sounds simple?). A good absent-minded person will let some (or rather, many) signs pass. Look around you, see if you can help (even if it means giving the exhausted mother a cup of coffee, asking friends if the family is okay ... because, with your eyes open, you will know what to do), stop to understand the current state of our country (forget the numbers for a moment, read testimonials). Start by following some pages that can help you stay updated. We will start to share more and more information so that you can be an exemplary citizen and, when it is your turn to get the vaccine, be proud of you and yours!

I promise that my next tips will be less abstract, but I had to start at the base, otherwise dear distracted, the next could be you ...
